Testimonium

Information about how to obtain the Testimonium peregrinationis ad limina petri and entrance to Basilica
- A) for pilgrims having walked, preferably on the VF, at least from Acquapendente through Bolsena, Montefiascone, Viterbo, Vertralla, Sutri, La Storta to Rome (140 Km)]
- B) for pilgrims having cycled at least from Lucca to Rome (400 Km)
- Before entering the Vatican (electronic control): leave backpack, sticks at SAN LORENZO CENTER (v. Pfeiffer 24) or at your accommodation (Hotel, Hostel, Religious House). To use the luggage deposit at the Basilica takes about 2 hours queuing.
Pilgrims meeting these conditions may then apply at:
- 1) San Lorenzo pilgrim’s center to receive useful services for pilgrims, just outside St. Peter’s Square – open 7 / 7 days from 11 am to 5 pm – Tel. +39 331 4610046
- 2) the Palazzo della Canonica. Enter by the gate called “Ingresso del Petriano” on piazza Sant’Uffizio Mo/Tues/Wed/Thu/Fri/Sa 9:30-12 (Tell the Swiss Guards you wish to receive the Testimonium.) Info: Patrizio Menna tel. +39 06 698 837 31
Pilgrims are invited to register in the Saint Peter’s Basilica VF Pilgrims register (as of February 2015: 5,800 pilgrims have registered)
- If you cannot do either of the above, you will receive your parchment by mail approximately one month after sending a request to Fabbrica di San Pietro, 00120 Città del Vaticano-Roma with the following documents and information:
- 1) Photocopy of identity card or passport
- 2) Photocopy of credential with all stamps
- 3) Full address
- 4) Date of birth
- 5) Starting place of your pilgrimage
- 6) Starting date and arrival date
- 7) Means of travel : on foot, by bicycle
- 8) The motivation for your pilgrimage: faith, culture or other
- 9) The organization that assisted you before or during your pilgrimage (see above or others)
- 10) The organisation that you supported before or during your pilgrimage, for example : l’Association Internationale Via Francigena – AIVF or other
